Orlando Terrorist Attack, ISIS’ Hypocrisy and False Religions’ Subculture of Sexual Sins

Last Sunday morning at 2 A.M., while most people slept, terrorism ripped through our nation once again. Media reported, “A gunman who pledged allegiance to ISIS opened fire…in a packed Orlando nightclub, killing 50 people and wounding at least 53 more in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.”

Our nation weeps. Fifty souls, dignified by the image of God, were senselessly and brutally executed. It is in lockstep with Satan—a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44)

But this particular terror attack had a more pointed message. It took place during the Muslim’s holiest month of Ramadan, celebrating the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad. And the target was “the hottest gay bar” in Orlando, Florida.

We get the message: high and holy Islam has plunged the sword of jihad deep into the heart of America’s most debauched subculture. We are the “great Satan” parading our eroticism before the world, and non-westernized* Islam is the holy hammer of Allah. Point taken.

Hypocrisy comes in all shapes and sizes. But there are some mutations of double-mindedness that absolutely defy reason. When it comes to sexual sins, non-westernized Islam is the heavy weight champion of all things decadent.

I feel like grabbing a giant megaphone and shouting to the Islamic State, “Do you really think we don’t know about your rampant pedophilia, pillaging, raping and, yes, homosexual practices?!” This is irony at its most grotesque.

We know ISIS has a “theology of rape” they use to justify their actions. Pillaging is simply their “holy calling.” But rampant pedophilia and homosexuality is an inconvenient truth.

From ancient times, the companionship of older men and prepubescent boys has been an unspoken norm in their culture. If the act is somehow brought into the open, it is typically the boy or the “passive” partner in the relationship who is stoned or thrown off a building. The Daily Beast has written an extensive article on this subject. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/01/06/the-secret-hypocritical-gay-world-of-isis.html Stories abound which testify that homosexuality in non-westernized Islam is simply veiled behind these pedophilic relationships.

While non-westernized Islam (ISIS in particular) is the most egregious example, sexual hypocrisy is often an earmark of false religious. Islam was born out of the morass of sexual debauchery.

Muhammad, a polygamist, was married eleven times. Muhammad’s last wife, Aisha, was only six when married and the relationship was consummated at age nine. Another of Muhammad’s wives, Zaynab Bint Jash, was formerly married to Muhammad’s adopted son. Muhammad saw her unveiled and remarked on her beauty. Muhammad’s son heard of his father’s remark and offered to give his wife to Muhammad. Muhammad piously declined but later, in a dream, Allah told Muhammad to take the offer. So Muhammad was “forced” to obey Allah and takes his son’s beautiful bride. http://www.answering-islam.org/Responses/Menj/zaynab.htm

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen sexism masquerading as “god’s will.” By the way, the Quran limits men to only four wives, but important prophets get special exceptions, of course.

What else would you expect from a man-made religion?

Sexual hypocrisy marks the origin of Mormonism as well. Joseph Smith took Acts 3:19-21, a promise of the Millennial restoration of all things, to mean the restoration of Old Testament polygamy. He added to this an imaginative doctrine that preborn spirits needed a body in order to enter our world, which meant he and his followers needed to have as many babies as possible. That justified more wives. He conveniently obeyed his fanciful inventions and “sealed” himself to over three dozen women!

Not only was Joseph Smith’s interpretation hermeneutically ludicrous, but it’s nothing short of sexual deviancy justified on the grounds of “theology.” The rabbit-hole goes deeper if you dare (http://www.aomin.org/aoblog/index.php/2012/12/13/does-mormonism-teach-that-god-the-father-physically-begat-the-son-vintage/).

It cannot, then, be too shocking to learn that one Harvard study revealed Utah (60% Mormon) leads the nation in porn subscriptions. Behind the clean cut façade there is a bareness of sanctifying grace to help Mormons move beyond the sins of their father.

Joseph Smith’s hormonal presuppositions blinded him to the fact that, in the Old Testament, God condemned the multiplication of wives first by his standard in the Garden, second by explicitly forbidding it (Deut. 17:17), thirdly by linking the first polygamous to Lemech, the founder of the first city erected in opposition against God, and, fourthly, by repeatedly showing the ugly fallouts of multiple wives.

From 2001 – 2010 the Roman Catholic Church investigated 3,000 sexual abuse allegations concerning priests, stretching back some fifty years.

For those familiar with Reformation history, much of the righteous anger against Rome was against its rampant, sexual corruption. My former boss (a retired priest) admitted to me the one thing the Reformation was good for was cleaning up all the corruption.

To see for yourself, just research the notorious Medici family and all the popes they produced. Not only did they fund the Renaissance (which was less about paintings and more about hedonism), their sexual exploits were legendary.

What was most disturbing about the Roman Catholic Church sex scandal was the way accused priests were simply “reassigned” rather than investigated and turned into authorities. It wasn’t until there was media pressure that proper investigations transpired.

I am not pointing out religions that simply had leaders who “fell.” No group is impervious to that. I am pointing out example-religions that developed deviant subcultures of sexuality or prolonged reputations of hiding criminal sex-crimes. That is a different poison altogether.

In one sense, no matter how many safety nets and protocols one implements, no one can absolutely guarantee that their business, religious organization or family will not be victims or committers of sexual sins. From the well-ordered Duggar family to the Apostle Paul’s new church plant in Corinth, its tentacles slither into the most incubated environs.

But when this evil strikes, if that organization has one modicum of integrity, it will not be swept under the rug (Roman Catholic Church), it will not morph into a subculture (Islam) and it will not be justified from Scripture (Mormonism). It will be exposed and properly dealt with as is the example of authentic followers of Christ in Scripture (II Sam. 12:1-13; Ps. 51; I Cor. 5).

Churches, religions and organizations which fail to show their hatred of these sins by properly dealing with them in their own house first, are showing their true colors; they are driven by their flesh, not the HOLY Spirit.

Only in the conquering power of Christ will sexual sin be exposed, confessed and defeated.

Only when we see our sins—any sin—in the white hot light of his holiness, will we understand our desperate need for the cross and forgiveness.

Only in Christ will the foundation of repentance be built upon the rubble of sexual sins, raising a fresh new edifice of purity and holiness for the world to see.

(Rom 6:16-18, 22-23)

16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

*I use non-westernized Islam rather than radical Islam because I do not believe they are acting radically. I believe they are acting according to the behavior of Muhammad and the literal teachings of the Quran.
